UNESCO World Heritage site visits like the Swayambhunath Stupa (the Monkey Temple) and Durbar Square offer reminders of Nepal’s spiritual past and architectural legacy. Row after row of vibrantly colored streets lined with bustling local markets and sensory-smashing scents emanating from street food stalls provide a seamless blending into the anticipation that follows in foot for the journey to come.
Towards the evening, trekkers are briefed by the guides regarding their itineraries and journey ahead. Fellow adventurers speak, laughing and full of excitement. Today was essentially our first day in Kathmandu, but it also serves as a preview to the physical trek and more importantly the cohort experiences awaiting us.
Day Two: Flight to Lukla- The entrance of the Khumbu
The second day (and another 10 hours of waiting), and then a thrilling flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, a small mountain town and the entrance to the Khumbu area. The trip takes 30 minutes and the views widen up to draw you nearer the rugged terrain of Himalayas. On the way, you will pass through the river Dudh Koshi which gives marching music at your feet and makes you feel that u r on a great adventure.

Day 4: Phakding to Namche Bazaar — 10km A 10km walk today will take you to Namche Bazaar, the cultural heart of Sherpa culture in Khumbu. Walking alongside the tranquil babbling Dudh Koshi river, we passed through many vibrantly coloured prayer flag adorned suspension bridges that swung merrily in the wind. As they move higher, the landscape will turn into a scenic view of green forests and big snow clad mountains in their backdrop which gets them excited.
Before Namche Bazaar visitors have to pass by its beautiful-built terraced land, busy shopkeepers and warm lodges. A bustling town where we make a necessary acclimatization stop, the local architecture and cultural flavor are reflected in its very name. Trekking through narrow brick streets brightened by crow-footed Sherpa locals who stop more than happy to reveal the essence of their traditions and stories, experience like describing square. It houses several important centers like the Sherpa Museum and also a bustling local market where trekkers can experience traditional food and bring back from there handcrafted mementos.
The community spirit in Namche is really noticeable, the lodges are filled with trekkers exchanging stories and preparing for what lies ahead. Dingboche is unique, as the local community provides a very friendly, welcoming environment for trekkers to experience their Sherpa culture. This also takes you to interact with locals and understand their culture which brings an entirely connection of the area. Also, plenty of water and good food are a must during this acclimatization time. It is a crucial day hike on the way to Everest Base Camp, which actually prepares you on how to deal with high altitudes what lays ahead.
Day 9: Dingboche to Lobuche -The Pathway to Base Camp
Day nine is a big one on the trek to Everest Base Camp as everyone moves from Dingboche to Lobuche, which is an 8 km walk. Gorak Shep, elevation 5,164 meters is a tiny remote yet vibrant settlement you find yourself on after reaching this put. From here, guests can settle in at the on-site lodges while continuing to explore either by hiking to nearby glacial lakes, boating or just taking in the mountain scenery.

It may only be about three kilometers, but it is The Three Kilometers of the unmentionable kind. This trail takes you up and along the glacier offering some fantastic views of many of the mountain peaks which encircle the camp. Every step of the way is a celebration of resilience and defiance.
The vibe changes as trekkers get close to Base Camp, and the anticipation — and satisfaction— increase with every step. Trekkers at Base Camp also usually have some time to reflect, take some photos and just really absorb the amazing views. That said, while a relatively enthusiastic one to get to Mount Everest Base Camp, the walk back down reflexive — and in its own way potentially very deferential.
